September 2009

Greetings to all and welcome back to snowmobile mode!  Well, sort of. At this writing, the WSC is on a short summer break. Our first meeting for the coming season is scheduled for September 7th. At our last meeting we had our election of officers:

President: Larry Jean

Vice President:  Tom Willand

Treasurer: Dick Schellhammer

Secretary: Sue Gaudette

Trail Master: Jay Franks

Trail Administrator: Bob Gaudette

Board of Directors: As nominated

Dick made the foolish mistake of being absent on Election Day and came within a goats whisker of becoming our new president. However, Larry isn’t the best with math, so we let it go as nominated above. It made for interesting fodder at our summer BBQ however. Speaking of which, we had a lovely summer evening BBQ at our Presidents house and aside from the pizza delivery man ‘adopting’ us as his new best friends, was a fairly sane and predictable evening, ending with a friendly wager to see if one of our more suave members who came by boat would get stopped by the lurking Marine Patrol we could see but he couldn’t. When the blue lights came on there was some serious howling among the WSC faithful..however..it seems the stop was for the boat in front of him…we didn’t totally buy into that..but it sure made for a lot of laughs..as usual..never a dull moment!

Anyway..we of course have a full compliment of trail work waiting for us. Brushing, repairing summer 4-wheeler damage, washouts should be plentiful and our trail administrator will be mailing out land owner permission slips and soon the membership packets will go out.

Gunstock, where I work is on an official countdown to ski season…87 days…eeek! That’s sobering. Let us hope the summer’s rains convert into winter snows and we will have a great season.

Until our first meeting, when more news will surface, that about wraps it up. Anyone interested in attending a WSC meeting; the 1st Monday of each month at the Windrifter Resort Barn at 7pm just past the Kingswood Golf Course.

Happy snipping,,,                Sue
